London:
In a fresh development in the match-fixing scandal, Pakistan Cricket Board's legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi told NDTV that the undercover reporter posed as an agent who would get Hameed a deal and the meeting with the 'agent' took place in Nottingham.
He claimed that the agent offered Hameed 50,000 pounds for a deal with Etihaad Airways and that the Pakistani Test opener at no point knew that he was being filmed by a hidden camera. (Read: Tabloid offered me money and British passport)
These statements come after Hameed was summoned to the Pakistani High Commission to meet the PCB chief and the Pakistani envoy.
Hameed had earlier categorically denied giving an interview to the British tabloid saying that they had offered him money and a UK passport.
The tabloid quoted Yasir Hameed as saying that almost all Pakistan matches were fixed and he himself denied a mouth-watering offer from a bookie. (Read: Almost every Pak match fixed: Hameed)
The new revelations further deepened the crisis which has engulfed Pakistan cricket as three of their players were suspended by the ICC and are being questioned by Scotland Yard in London for their alleged role in spot-fixing.
