Nothing wrong with my technique: Rohit

Short-pitched deliveries proved his bane during the World Twenty20 but Indian batsman Rohit Sharma on Wednesday said there is nothing wrong in his technique and he was capable of playing the rising balls.

Rohit, who is here as a brand Ambassador of a soap company "Superia", said it was his sheer bad luck that he could not score heavily during the World Twenty20.

"In absence of Virender Sehwag, I was asked to open the innings. In 50 over match you get more time to settle down but 20-20 demands aggression right from the word go.

"I tried to play my shots early because team needed a brisk start and got out early. This also raised the question about my technique against the short ball but there is nothing wrong and I can play such stuff with ease," he said.

Considered to be one of the best T20 players, Rohit said he wants to prove himself in all the three formats.

"I have scored well in IPL and other 20-20 matches. That has also made people think that I am only a 20-20 player. But I am at ease in all three forms of the game. I want to prove and establish myself in Test cricket too," he said.

Regarding his chances of making a comeback in the Indian Team, the flamboyant batsman said he would go back to domestic cricket and try to score enough runs to regain his spot.

"I know finding a place again in the Indian batting order is not easy but I will have to score heavily in domestic cricket. I had sustained a shoulder injury while playing in Chennai and the doctors said that it would take one and a half months to heal.

"I worked hard to recover and Dave Whatmore in NCA helped me a lot to recover well. I have already been declared fit and would play in Irani trophy in quest of my come back," said Rohit.

Rohit felt Indian players experience during the second Indian Premier League in South Africa will help the team to perform better in the Champions Trophy.

"We are capable of winning the trophy. We have played well in tri Series in Sri Lanka and the team looks in good form. Another advantage is that many of the Indian players have been to south Africa earlier and know the wickets there," he said.

Rohit considers Australian pacer Brett Lee as the best bowler in world at present.

"Apart from being fast, he is penetrative and capable of containing the batsmen. So my opinion he is the best in world at present," he said.

Rohit believes with most of the stalwarts of Indian cricket retiring, it was difficult for youngsters to cope up with all three forms of the game.

"When I came Saurav Ganguly had retired and now the likes Rahul Dravid might leave in couple of years. For the youngsters it would be very hard to prove themselves and step into their shoes. That would be a real challenge," said Rohit.
