A 117-run unbroken second wicket stand between Kane Williamson and Tom Latham at Green Park on Friday was testimony to the fact that New Zealand are prepared to fight India in fair playing conditions.
There were no devils in the wicket as Williamson and Latham applied themselves well to keep India's bowlers at bay. India, who were all out for 318, will rue the fact that several wickets went down due to poor shot selection.
Williamson and Latham will start on 56 and 65, respectively. The right-hand and left-hand combination has rotated the strike well and will look to consolidate. The ball is 47 overs old and it remains to be seen how the Kiwis counter spin and reverse swing.
