Zonal system in Duleep Trophy has been scrapped
The 2016/17 Indian domestic season is all set to begin with the Duleep Trophy in August. In a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the fixtures for the tournament were released.
Three teams, India Red, India Green and India Blue will participate in the event. The teams will be captained by Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir will captain the sides repsectively. All matches will be Day-Night encounters and the venue is the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh
In March 2016, the BCCI in their working committee meeting, scrapped the zonal system in the Duleep Trophy and it was decided to pick four teams that would participate in a round-robin format. It was also decided that the Duleep Trophy would also be a pink-ball affair.
