Sri Lanka's last Test victory came on September 11, 1999 at the Asgiriya stadium in Kandy. After 6118 days, Sri Lanka, minus Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Sanath Jayasuriya and Tillakaratne Dilshan, secured a historic 106-run win over Australia in Pallekele.

However, it is the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan batsman in Pallekele, going past Younis Khan's 171* in 2015.
