Joe Root Slams Second Test Double Century, Joins Elite Club
Joe Root became only the third England player to smash two double centuries in Test cricket as England dominated the second Test against Pakistan in Old Trafford.

Joe Root is considered one of the best batsman in the modern era. Along with Virat Kohli, Steven Smith and Kane Williamson, Root has been consistent across all formats but in Tests, he has been one of the best batsman for England in the last couple of years.
On the second day of the second Test between England and Pakistan in Old Trafford, Root joined an illustrious company as he notched up his second double century in Tests. In the process, he created several records in the process
3 - Number of English batsmen who have notched up two or more double centuries in Tests. England skipper Alastair Cook has three scores of over 200, with scores of 294 against India in Edgbaston in 2011, 263 against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in 2015, 235 against Australia in Brisbane in 2010. Kevin Pietersen has smashed two double tons, including 227 against Australia in Adelaide in 2011 and 202 versus India in Lord's in 2002.
4 - Root has become the fourth batsmen to score a double century against Pakistan in Tests. Denis Compton holds the record for the highest individual score with 278 in Nottingham in 1954. Cook's 263 in Abu Dhabi and Ted Dexter's 205 in Karachi in 1962 are other instances.
