"There is still a slight pain but I can play with that. It is important for the captain to be on the field in the first match," the strapping pacer said.
"I will definitely play if nothing new develops."
Having won the first two editions as the captain of Dhaka Gladiatiors, Mashrafe has the opportunity to win a hat-trick of BPL titles this edition.
"Definitely playing to be champions. But I don't want to look too far ahead right now, just taking it a match at a time."
The match is set to start on Sunday evening. Rangpur Riders will play against Chittagong Vikings in the BPL opener on Saturday. The tournament is coming back after a gap of one year.
