Duminy suffered a cut in his hand during the third ODI in Rajkot, and has been sitting out since then.
"JP Duminy had the stitches removed from his right hand laceration two days ago. He will have a net session in the next couple of days and should be available for selection for the second Test match in Bengaluru," Mohammed Moosajee, South African team manager, said in a press release form Cricket South Africa.
Duminy's absence in the Mohali Test, robbed South Africa of not only a valuable batsmen but also an off-spinning option, who could have a impact on the pitch for the first Test which helped the tweakers.
South Africa have another injury concern with Dale Steyn, who did not bowl in the second innings of the Mohali Test due to a groin strain. His fitness will be assessed two days before the second Test and only then it will be decided whether he will play or not. Morne Morkel, who missed the last two ODIs and the Mohali Test due to a sore leg, is also racing against time to be fit.
