Taskin Ahmed may be ruled out for three weeks after he suffered a tear on his left side. The Bangladeshi speedster missed the final ODI against India on June 24. The Tigers, who won their first ever bilateral series against the Indians, are almost certain to miss Taskin for the two T20 Internationals against the visiting South Africans next months, although the bowler remained hopeful of recovering in time for three ODIs. "I felt a bit of tightness on my left side while bowling in the second game against India and I hurt myself in the training session before the third game," Taskin said while speaking to ESPNcricinfo.
"The physio sent me to do an MRI immediately but I am hoping I will be fit within a short time for the South Africa series," he added. (Bangladesh Weighed Down by Whitewash Expectations: Mortaza)
Bangladesh host South Africa for the T20Is on July 5 and 7. The first of the three ODIs will be played on the July 10, followed by the other two on the 12th and 15th. That gives Taskin enough time to regain fitness. (Mortaza Wants Bangladesh to Maintain Intensity Against South Africa)
Taskin took the crucial wickets of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan in the first ODI against India but failed to strike in the second. The 20-year-old was replaced by Arafat Sunny in the third match, which was a dead rubber.
Taskin said he was looking to carry the form Bangladesh displayed in their 2-1 ODI series win over India when they took on the South Africans.
"I am getting newer experiences day by day. We are doing well as a team. I am personally happy to win the series and I hope we do well against South Africa," he said.
Taskin currently has 21 wickets from 14 ODIs and two wickets in three T20s. He is yet to play a Test match for Bangladesh.
