Sachin Tendulkar, who turned 41 today, flew in from Dubai to cast his vote. He will fly back to assist Mumbai Indian as the team's mentor.

Sachin Tendulkar cast his vote in Mumbai on Thursday. According to the retired legend, this was the perfect start to his 41st birthday. After casting his vote, Tendulkar tweeted: "I have voted, have you? A wonderful start to my birthday, as a responsible citizen of our great nation." Speaking to reporters, Tendulkar said: "I think in a democratic nation of ours, every eligible voter should vote. That's why I am here. I don't want to comment on who will form the government." (Sachin Tendulkar: 41 not out, legend continues to inspire off the field!)

Tendulkar, who is a Rajya Sabha MP, has urged Mumbaikars to come out in full numbers and cast their franchise. In his Facebook page, he wrote: "Every run counts in the game of cricket and every vote counts in an election. Don't underestimate the power of your vote. In Mumbai to exercise my right. Hope you play your part - Please Cast your vote."
Bharat Ratna Tendulkar retired from Test cricket in November last year. He played his last match in front of his home crowd at Wankhede Stadium.
Maharashtra, that sends 48 leaders to the Parliament, is voting in three phases. After the first two phases on April 10 and April 17, the final leg, covering 11 seats in Mumbai and Thane, went to polls on Thursday. (Pics: Sachin's greatest achievements)
