Galle:
Spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan regained the title of Test cricket's highest wicket-taker today when he dismissed South African batsman Martin van Jaarsveld on the third day of their first Test.
Muralitharan was bowling his sixth over of the day when he moved to 528 wickets, one ahead of Australian legspinner Shane Warne.
Warne and Muralitharan had taken 527 Test wickets each until today morning when Muralitharan moved ahead.
The Galle pitch traditionally favours spinners and has been a happy hunting ground for Muralitharan. (With wire inputs)
