India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj on Friday took to Instagram to wish his followers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Sharing a picture with his family, Siraj wrote a couple of line in Hindi which roughly translates to: "When parents are around every day is like Eid and when they are not even Eid doesn't bring the same happiness. Miss you Papa." Siraj lost his father last year when he was in Australia with the Indian team. With the coronavirus restrictions in place, Siraj decided not to travel back home hence couldn't see his father one last time.
Before Siraj, several other cricketers including the likes of India skipper Virat Kohli and batting great Sachin Tendulkar, also took to social media to extend their greetings of the day to all those celebrating the festival across globe.
"In these unprecedented times, let the spirit of Eid bring love, peace and joy to all. Eid Mubarak. Stay safe," Kohli tweeted.
"Wishing everyone good health, happiness and prosperity on the auspicious occasion of Eid. #EidMubarak," Sachin Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.
Tennis star Sania Mirza also greeted her followers on the festive occasion and wrote: "Eid Mubarak everyone  let's spare a thought for the  ppl suffering, the less fortunate in our prayers today. May Allah ease their pain and heal the world."Â
With India battling the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Siraj in his post urged everyone to "stay home and stay safe". Siraj has retained his place in India's Test squad for their tour of England. The tour begins with the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and is followed by a five-Test series against England.
