Kolkata:
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Sourav Ganguly was on Thursday fined USD 40,000 and his teammates $10,000 each for maintaining a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League match against the Delhi Daredevils.
"The Indian Premier League today advised that Kolkata Knight Riders have been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during last night's DLF IPL match against Delhi Daredevils in Kolkata," the IPL said in a statement.
At the end of the match, Kolkata were assessed to be two overs behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration.
"Since it was Kolkata's second offence of the season, under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, captain Sourav Ganguly was fined USD 40,000 and each player in the team USD 10,000," the IPL statement said.
Ganguly could be banned for a match if Kolkata repeat the offence for a third time.
