Union Minister C P Joshi and IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Saturday filed their nomination papers for the post of Rajasthan Cricket Association president.

Jaipur:

Union Minister C P Joshi and IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Saturday filed their nomination papers for the post of Rajasthan Cricket Association president for which elections will be held on December 7.

The Supreme Court has directed to hold the RCA elections on December 7 with Justice (retired) N M Kasliwal as observer.

Joshi, also state Congress president, was elected treasurer of Rajsamand District Association under controversial circumstances but has been cleared by Kasliwal to contest for the RCA top post.

Modi, who is currently not in the country, sent his nomination through his confidants Amin Pathan and Mehmood Abdi.

The RCA is having elections again in less than a year because Sanjay Dixit, who had defeated Modi in the previous election in March, could not hold his men and after a lot of bickering the state government had formed an ad-hoc body. The scrutiny will be done tomorrow while candidates can withdraw their nominations till Sunday.

Talking to the media, Joshi said, "I would act as a catalyst and my role will be limited. I had to step in because the standard of Rajasthan cricket was deteriorating day by day. I have support of all cricket lovers," he said.
