After plying his trade on the field in the Indian Premier League for seven years, former South Africa allrounder and Indian Premier League star Jacques Kallis is ready for his 'second innings' in India. Kallis will assume the role of a mentor and batting consultant for the Kolkata Knight Riders - a team which has won the title twice.
KKR's CEO Venky Mysore confirmed in a tweet that Kallis will become part of the KKR support staff, which already has Vijay Dahiya, Wasim Akram and Trevor Bayliss.
Thrilled @jacqueskallis75 will become mentor & batting consultant for @KKRiders. His role in shaping KKR's culture has been brilliant.

Kallis, who started off his IPL career with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season of the tournament in 2008, moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011. The move proved to be a good one for the South African veteran, as he displayed great consistency at the top of the order. Kallis amassed 424, 409 and 311 runs in the first three seasons with KKR. He also played a quintessential role in KKR's first IPL title win in 2012.
Kallis brought an end to his glorious international career in August this year, despite speculations that he was keen to feature in the 2015 World Cup. (Read report here)
