It's a big day for the fans of Hyderabad based IPL team, the Deccan Chargers. The franchisee that won the 2009 IPL is set to be sold from the current owners, the Deccan Chronicle Group to a buyer that meets all the criteria the BCCI has set out for this deal.

The likes of the RPG Group and the Adani Group have submitted their bids to take over the team ownership.
The BCCI will be opening the bids for the financially depleted franchise today. The buyers will have to meet the criteria set by the BCCI for the sale which includes paying the entire money upfront and taking up all the current liabilities of the franchise
In case none of the buyers meet the criteria then the Deccan Chargers franchise will be scrapped altogether and the BCCI will float a tender for a new team.
The owners of the other franchises, who themselves have been in trouble with the IPL Governing Council, don't seem too bothered about this new change.
"Them having to sell the team doesn't have anything to do with us at all. The IPL will carry on. And every team has a fan following and that will continue to be irrespective of who the owners are," said Shilpa Shetty, Co-owner, Rajasthan Royals.
For a team that finished second last in the last IPL, this was the last thing they needed. Hopefully the Deccan fans will still have a team to cheer for.
