Kanpur:
Out of favour Indian batsman Mohammed Kaif says he has not given up hope of making a national comeback despite his continuing barren run in the domestic circuit.
"If I make runs then I will definitely make a comeback to the Indian team or otherwise...," Kaif said.
Kaif, who is currently leading Uttar Pradesh's challenge in the Ranji trophy, said, "I am disappointed with my current form in the domestic circuit but I have not lost the hope."
Kaif, who was last seen in action for India during the ODI series against South Africa in 2006, is currently going through a Lean run in the domestic arena.
Although the right-hander scored a couple of half-centuries during the current Ranji season, he has been found wanting at times.
The skipper, whose side is currently up against Himachal Pradesh, once again flopped with bat as he could only add nine runs to his team's total of 197 during the first innings of the rain-marred Super League Group B match here.
Kaif was, however, confident that his team could make a comeback once the rain gives way to play. The captain said, "we have got good bowlers and I am hoping that we can make a comeback but that is only possible if the play starts."
