In a major relief for Rajasthan players, the High Court has ordered BCCI to allow them to play in the Ranji Trophy as well as in other BCCI-affiliated tournaments. This comes in the wake of India cricketer and Rajasthan stalwart Pankaj Singh calling on authorities to save Rajasthan cricket in a press conference on Thursday. After hearing a writ petition filed by Rajesh Bishnoi and few others, Justice MN Bhandari gave directions that Rajasthan would be allowed to take part in the domestic tournament conducted by the BCCI.ÂÂ
Justice Bhandari made it clear that the arrangement would continue till the dispute between RCA and the BCCI is solved.
The BCCI has formed selection committees to pick Rajasthan's squads for various domestic tournaments. Rajinder Singh Hans, who is a national selector, will chair the senior selection committee while Pritam Gandhe and Hemlata Kala will lead the junior and women's selection panels, respectively.
Former BCCI media manager Amrit Mathur will be the coordinator for all the selection committees. The High Court also observed that the selection committees appointed would continue to exist till the RCA matter is resolved.
However, in case of any issue, liberty has been given to approach the Court for appropriate orders. The Court has directed the BCCI appointed Ad-hoc committee to protect the interest of Rajasthan cricketers.
"We appeal to all concern, the BCCI, RCA and especially the courts that please find a solution to our plight as soon as possible. State cricket and our future is in danger and it would be an irreparable loss," appealed Pankaj, who himself is in the last leg of what has been an impressive domestic career.
"I feel, now time is running out and we have a lot of things to do so please find solution to the deadlock so that we are able to play in the coming season. At least, there should be cricket so that state does not suffer a big loss. I appeal to the courts to do what they did a year before," he had stated.
