England captain Alastair Cook could be ruled out of Sunday's second one-day international against Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street with a groin injury.
Twenty20 specialist Alex Hales has been called in as cover and will make his one-day international debut should Cook fail a fitness test. (Also read: PCB objects to Stuart Broad's jibe at Saeed Ajmal's action)
"Alex Hales has been added to the England ODI squad for the second one-day international against Sri Lanka as cover for Alastair Cook, who has right groin tightness," said a statement released by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Eoin Morgan -- who led the Twenty20 side last week in place of the injured Stuart Broad -- could again step in as captain should Cook miss out.
England lead the series 1-0, with four matches to play.
