England on Wednesday applied to have Chris Tremlett replace fellow fast bowler Stuart Broad who was ruled out of the rest of the World Cup with a side strain.
Tremlett has been with the squad throughout the competition as a stand-by player.
Broad left Chittagong for home on Wednesday with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirming their application to the International Cricket Council's event technical committee for Tremlett to come in as a seam-bowling reinforcement.
He is the second replacement player England have needed in the past two days, having summoned Eoin Morgan in place of the injured Kevin Pietersen on Monday.
Middle-order batsman Morgan joined the squad for practice at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday, in preparation for Friday's Group B fixture against Bangladesh at the same venue.
