There was bad news for Chris Gayle ahead of Monday's Indian Premier League match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bangalore. The captain of his academy in London, Adrian St John, had been reportedly shot dead by armed robbers in Trinidad on Sunday night. (No One Like Chris Gayle!)
St John was the captain of the Chris Gayle Academy in London. This academy was opened by the Jamaican superstar in 2013 to "improve access to good quality education, training and employment for at risk young people in Jamaica and the UK."

St John was robbed and was shot as he drove away. A 24-year-old man has been arrested, the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian Online reported.
The 22-year-old St John was an aspiring British cricketer. He played for Alleyn Cricket Club in south London and for his university squad at the University of Hertfordshire.
Donovan Miller, programme manager for the Chris Gayle Foundation, told BBC: "I'm really finding it hard to come to terms with it, how someone could do something like that to such a lovely person."
Miller said St John had been one of the first members of the Chris Gayle Academy in London, adding: "He wanted me to support him to go to the Caribbean and to kind of push hard with his cricket."
