Butt returns from ICC meet, keeps mum

Lahore:

Embattled Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Ijaz Butt on Friday returned from Dubai after attending the crucial ICC Executive Board meeting but flatly refused to speak to the media at the airport here.

"I will not comment on ICC related issues," said Butt and then changed his path to a waiting car, which whisked him away from the airport.

Media had gathered at the airport to get his viewpoint on the recent decisions taken at the meeting, in which Pakistan has been told to improve its governance and implement proper anti-corruption measures within 30 days or face a possible sanction from the game's world governing body.

This is the first time that the ICC has given the PCB a shrouded threat of sanction if it does not improve its working and governance.

Butt, however, was in no mood to speak to the media and on seeing them outside the terminal building, walked away. Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan on Thursday called for a total revamp of the cricket board's structure and described the ICC threat to the PCB as shameful.

He also felt Butt should have resigned the day he went to London and apologised to the England and Wales Cricket Board over the statement he made about English players being suspected of throwing matches.
