Kolkata:
The former India captain had already expressed satisfaction with Binny's appointment as Bengal coach and the former star of India's 1983 World Cup triumph feels he would need the left- hander's inputs to move forward in his new job.
"I will, of course, take Ganguly's help and interact with him before settling down in the new job. He is an icon player, we need his support and wisdom to do well," Binny told PTI over telephone from Bangalore.
Binny said he thought his foremost challenge would be to know Bengal cricket and its players, for which he would take help of former players and coaches including Ganguly. "Ganguly has already said he would play for Bengal in the one-dayers and we will approach him for his services in the four-day format as well," Binny said.
Asked how he landed the Bengal coaching assignment, the former high performance manager with Asian Cricket Council (ACC), said, "My contract with them (ACC) was coming to an end and I was looking for a suitable opportunity outside Karnataka, when this happened."
