Abdullah Shafique | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Steven Smith b Mitchell Starc
0.2 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Mitchell Starc draws first blood and Pakistan have been rocked early here. Starc dishes out a full and wide one, trying to bowl the big inswinger but this one goes straight on. Abdullah Shafique has a poke at it as he looks to drive away from the body and plays a loose shot instead. The outside edge is found and the ball goes quickly to Steven Smith at second slip and he pouches it well around the rib cage as Shafique departs for a duck. 0/1

|||||
Saim Ayub | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Alex Carey b Josh Hazlewood
1.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Josh Hazlewood follows in the footsteps of Mitchell Starc and sends Saim Ayub packing for a duck on Test debut. Immaculate line and length from Hazlewood though as he serves it on a nagging length around off and nibbling away off the deck. Ayub simply had to play at that and looks to block it off the front foot but the ball just catches the outside edge. Alex Carey dives down to his left and takes a good catch as Pakistan are two down inside the first two overs. 4/2
|
|||||
Shan Masood C | 35 | 70 | 3 | 0 | 50 |
c Steven Smith b Mitchell Marsh
29.3 OUT! CAUGHT! This time Mitchell Marsh has his man and it is almost an action replay of the earlier one that was ruled out for overstepping. Good length on off and middle, angling across, Shan Masood looks to cover the line but gets squared up. The ball just nips away and takes the outside edge as Masood pushes at it and goes straight into the bread basket of Steven Smith at second slip who makes no mistake. Masood's resilient knock comes to an end and this Mitchell Marsh experiment has worked out well for Australia. 96/5
|
|||||
Babar Azam | 26 | 40 | 4 | 0 | 65 |
lbw b Pat Cummins
10.5 OUT! LBW! A jaffa of a delivery from Pat Cummins and a review to match it as well. Cummins steams in from over the wicket and bowls a big inswinger. This one pitches full and outside off and just keeps on coming back in sharply taking Babar Azam aback. Babar sort of falls over as he looks to whip it leg side and the ball pings him on the pads. There are two noises and the intial appeal is turned down. However, Cummins is confident and reviews. No need for UltraEdge as there is clearly no bat involved as seen on the replay and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. A huge moment as Cummins gets the wicket of Babar Azam who was looking pretty good. 39/3
|
|||||
Saud Shakeel | 5 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 41.66 |
c Alex Carey b Pat Cummins
14.3 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! The skipper gets his second wicket. Bowls a good length delivery just around the vicinity of the off stump angling it in from wider on the crease, Saud Shakeel tries to defend it with no footwork and gets a faint outside edge off his blade and the ball carries to the keeper who comfortably pouches it. Pakistan are four down now and Shakeel should have left that one alone, a poor shot! 47/4
|
|||||
Mohammad Rizwan Wk | 88 | 103 | 10 | 2 | 85.43 |
c Josh Hazlewood b Pat Cummins
46.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Pat Cummins is the gift that just keeps on giving for Australia and what a masterstroke this has been from the skipper. Shuffles the field which indicates that there might be some short stuff on offer and Cummins digs it in short over middle stump. Not much bounce on it and Mohammad Rizwan goes for the pull but doesn't go through with it completely. The ball goes off the top edge to fine leg where Josh Hazlewood takes a fine catch low to his left. Rizwan should have really gone hard at it rather than trying to paddle it around and he departs from a brilliant 88. 190/6
|
|||||
Agha Salman | 53 | 67 | 8 | 0 | 79.10 |
c Travis Head b Mitchell Starc
53.4 OUT! CAUGHT! The short ball ploy has worked for the Aussies and Mitchell Starc has a broad smile on his face. This is banged short and in the stump line, Agha Salman goes on the back foot for a pull and gets beaten by the pace and miscues it straight towards Travis Head who is stationed at square leg. He takes an easy grab there. Agha Salman's fine knock comes to an end. Pakistan loose their 8th wicket and Mitchell Starc gets his second wicket. 226/8
|
|||||
Sajid Khan | 15 | 23 | 2 | 0 | 65.21 |
c Nathan Lyon b Pat Cummins
52.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Pat Cummins gets his man this time and Sajid Khan has to walk back. Pakistan now 7 down. Continuous use of the short delivery from both the ends doing the trick for the skipper. Bangs in short again at the body of the batter and this time Sajid Khan pulls it hard but straight into the hands of Nathan Lyon who is standing at mid-wicket, waiting for Sajid Khan to make a mistake. 220/7
|
|||||
Aamer Jamal | 82 | 97 | 9 | 4 | 84.53 |
c Mitchell Starc b Nathan Lyon
77.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Finally, finally Aamer Jamal finds the fielder and Nathan Lyon does get his man. This is tossed up on the stumps yet again and Jamal does skip down the track and go after it. Jamal heaves it away but doesn't quite get the timing and finds Mitchell Starc at long on who makes no mistake. A phenomenal inning though from the number 9 and Pakistan have been bundled out for a decent total of 313 runs. 313/10
|
|||||
Hasan Ali | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Mitchell Starc b Pat Cummins
55 OUT! CAUGHT! That is the FIFTH wicket for the Australian skipper Pat Cummins, for the first time at the SCG. Hasan Ali walks back without scoring. The short ball working wonders for the Australian bowlers as the past 4 wickets have been dismissed to a short ball. Pat Cummins bangs another one at the body of the batter and Hasan Ali heaves it away in the air straight to Mitchell Starc standing at deep fine leg who takes a comfortable catch at the boundary line. 227/9

24.3 OUT! CAUGHT! David Warner goes back to the hut on 34 in his FINAL TEST. Crucial blow for Australia on the brink of Lunch. Agha Salman brings the length back on the stumps line and gets the ball to drift in, bounce viciously and spin away from the left hander. David Warner stays stuck on the crease and looks to turn his bat to flick the ball on the leg side, in the end gets an outside edge leading to the left of slip where Babar Azam picks up a brilliant catch to dismiss David Warner who walks back to a huge standing ovation from his home crowd. 70/1

Usman Khawaja | 47 | 143 | 4 | 0 | 32.86 |
c Mohammad Rizwan b Aamer Jamal
43.3 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Huge appeal for Caught Behind. The umpire says no. Pakistan want to check it up. Shan Masood takes a review. Short ball doing the trick in the end for Aamer Jamal. Usman Khawaja looks to pull it through square leg and gets a faint edge of his gloves through to Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps. The Umpire says No, but there is a spike seen on Hotspot that confirms that Usman Khawaja has hit the ball. Australia lose another set batter. 108/2

b Agha Salman
74.2 OUT! BOWLED'EM! What a ripper of a delivery this is! Beautiful presentation of the off-spin bowling and drops it from over the wicket on a fuller length, just on the rough outside the off stump line of the right-hander, it turns sharply as Marnus Labuschagne strides for a defence and the ball goes past the gap between the bat and pad and disrupts the sticks. Labuschagne is left bamboozled and has to depart after a good knock but Australia in a spot of some bother. 187/4
|
|||||
Steven Smith | 38 | 86 | 3 | 0 | 44.18 |
c Babar Azam b Mir Hamza
73.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Steven Smith has fallen into the tarp and he is stood there in disbelief as Mir Hamza strikes for Pakistan. Bowls it a bit fuller in length a bit outside off, Steven Smith gets well across the stumps and looks to drive it uppishly over the ring of short cover fielders but doesn't get the timing correct on this one and hits it straight towards Babar Azam who is stationed at short extra cover and he grabs it well over his head. Steven Smith departs on 38 and Australia lose their third wicket. 187/3

Travis Head | 10 | 29 | 0 | 0 | 34.48 |
lbw b Aamer Jamal
83.2 OUT! LBW! Aamer Jamal steams in from around the stumps and bowled it slightly back of a length at 139.4 clicks. The ball pitches on off and jags back in a long way. Head is caught on the back foot and is beaten past the bat. The ball thuds into the pads. There is a huge appeal and the finger is raised. Travis Head does opt for the review and this looks to be very close. The replays show that there is no bat involved. Ball Tracking shows that the ball is clipping leg stump and the onfield call remains, Head has to walk back and Australia are five down. 205/5
|
|||||
Mitchell Marsh | 54 | 113 | 6 | 0 | 47.78 |
c Shan Masood b Aamer Jamal
107.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Straight to the man and that is a soft dismissal for 'The Bison'. Aamer Jamal pitches this one up full and around the line of off stump. Mitchell Marsh looks to drive on the up and looks to get it over the fielder at mid off but ends up hitting it a bit inside out and the ball holds a bit in the deck as well. In the end, the ball just gets chipped in the air by Marsh to mid off where Shan Masood takes a simple catch. Marsh departs after another solid knock and Australia are now 7 down with still being 20 runs behind. 293/7

Alex Carey Wk | 38 | 58 | 3 | 0 | 65.51 |
b Sajid Khan
106.2 OUT! TIMBER! Right on the stroke of Tea, Sajid Khan sends Alex Carey packing and boy, he is delighted. Sajid tosses this one up nicely on a length and on off stump. Alex Carey leans on and looks to block but the ball doesn't turn and goes straight on. Carey is beaten in flight and the ball goes between bat and pad to just caress the jumper and then hits the top of middle and leg stump, dislodging the bail. A huge wicket and that will be Tea on Day 3! 289/6

108 OUT! LBW! Oh, that looks dead straight but the umpire turns down the appeal for LBW! Shan Masood takes the review and the only thing that could save Pat Cummins here is an inside edge but hotspot and UltraEdge confirm that there's no bat involved. Aamer Jamal steams in and looks for the inswinging yorker but misses his mark and ends up serving a full toss instead. This one dips and tails back in and beats the inside edge as Cummins looks to block. Ball Tracking comes up with three reds and Jamal has four wickets to his name, excellent bowling. 293/8

Nathan Lyon | 5 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 166.66 |
c Saud Shakeel b Aamer Jamal
109.2 OUT! CAUGHT! There it is, a five-for for Aamer Jamal and his series just keeps on getting better and better. Jamal steams in again and serves it on a good length on off stump, getting it to straighten a bit off the deck. Nathan Lyon gets squared up and jars at it with hard hands. The ball goes off the outside edge and down towards gully where Saud Shakeel leans forward and misses the ball. The ball goes through the hands and onto the boot before Shakeel manages to hang on. Australia going down in a hurry here. 299/9

109.4 OUT! CAUGHT! That's it, it's all over, Australia have collapsed and have conceded a lead of 14 runs. Aamer Jamal bangs this one short and around off, angling it across the left-hander. The ball goes quickly to third slip where Agha Salman takes a sharp catch right around his face and Jamal ends up with 6 wickets to his name and makes it 18 wickets in his debut Test series as well. Australia bundled out for 299 runs. 299/10

The ball just pitches and nips back in sharply and a long way too. Shafique leaves a big gap between bat and pad as he looks to block it off the front foot and the ball goes through the gap to knocks over the stumps. The ball seems to have pitched and come on with the angle instead of turning away, Saim Ayub looks to lean on and block but is beaten on the inside edge and gets rapped on the pads. There is a loud appeal and the finger goes up. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Ayub departs after a fighting knock and Lyon gets the crucial breakthrough for his side. Pakistan currently lead by 72 runs. 58/3

The ball carries to Alex Carey who doesn't make any mistake in grabbing an easy sitter. The Pakistan skipper departs on a duck after playing a poor shot. They are in a huge trouble now. 1/2

Babar Azam | 23 | 52 | 1 | 0 | 44.23 |

20.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! And it's Babar Azam walking back to the hut. This is pitched just outside off on a way too fuller length, Babar Azam goes for a drive with a stride forward and ends up getting an outside edge of his blade. Alex Carey does a fantastic job behind the wickets and takes a good reaction catch. The golden arm of Travis Head has provided a big wicket for Australia. 60/4

Saud Shakeel | 2 | 19 | 0 | 0 | 10.52 |
c Steven Smith b Josh Hazlewood
24.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Hazlewood strikes again and what a bowling change from the skipper. Hurls from around the wicket and pitches it wide outside off on a fuller length, Saud Shakeel goes for an expansive and needless drive and the ball catches the outside edge of the blade and the ball flies straight to the second slip where Steven Smith is stationed. He takes an easy grab. That was a poor shot from Shakeel as he lost his shape completely. Pakistan lose half of their side just at the brink of the end of the day. 67/5

Mohammad Rizwan Wk | 28 | 57 | 1 | 0 | 49.12 |
c David Warner b Nathan Lyon
39.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Nathan Lyon strikes for the hosts finally! Bowls on a fuller length which spins extra after pitching on the leg stump line, Mohammad Rizwan leans onto it and tries to flick it with the wrists but gets an inside edge instead and the ball lobs straight toward David Warner who is stationed at the leg slip region. He takes a good reaction catch. It looked like Mohammad Rizwan wanted to sweep it away but changed his mind in the end. Garry breaks a crucial partnership and creates an opening for Australia as Rizwan departs. 109/8

|||||
Sajid Khan | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
b Josh Hazlewood
24.3 OUT! BOWLED'EM! The nightwatchman ploy fails for Pakistan and Hazlewood gets his third. Bowls on a back of a length this time around the off-stump line, Sajid Khan roots to his crease and goes to defend it but gets beaten all ends up on that one. The ball strikes the top of the off stump after brushing the pad. Pakistan are in a deep, deep trouble here. 67/6
|
|||||
Agha Salman | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c David Warner b Josh Hazlewood
24.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Could you believe it? That's three in this over for Josh Hazlewood. Bowls in the channel outside off on a hard length, Agha Salman strides ahead and looks to defend it but gets an outside edge that flies straight to the slip cordon. David Warner is stationed at the second slip and takes an absolute sitter. This is crazy stuff from Hoff. Australia lose their 7th wicket and Hazlewood gets his fourth. Pakistan would be dejected with this poor display of batting. 67/7
|
|||||
Aamer Jamal | 18 | 47 | 2 | 0 | 38.29 |
c Travis Head b Pat Cummins
40.1 OUT! CAUGHT! One brings two and Pakistan are on the verge of getting bundled out now. Pat Cummins steams in from over the stumps and digs in a short ball over the middle stump, Aamer Jamal is aware of the field set in the deep on the leg side but backs himself to clear the fence and goes for the pull. The connection is decent but the ball goes straight to deep square leg where Travis Head doesn't have to move an inch and gobbles up the chance. Both set-batters are now back in the hut and the lead still stands at 123 runs. 109/9
|
|||||
Hasan Ali | 5 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 55.55 |
b Nathan Lyon
43.1 OUT! BOWLED'EM! Nathan Lyon gets his third and it's curtains for Pakistan. Tossed up delivery just outside off, Hasan Ali gets down on his knee for a sweep shot but misses entirely on it as the ball spins sharply into the batter and disrupts the middle stump by sneaking through the gap between the bat and the pad. Pakistan have lost their last three wickets in a hurry and have been bundled up on 115 and have ended with a lead of just 129 runs. There's a huge cheer from the SCG crowd as it's now time for David Warner to walk out in the middle for one last time to bat. 115/10

1 OUT! LBW! A huge appeal and given! Sajid Khan seems to have provided Pakistan a perfect start but Usman Khawaja has reviewed. Beautifully bowled by Sajid as he flights this one up on a nagging length onto off and middle, gets it to really dip and turn away sharply. Khawaja with his old habit goes on the back foot to a fairly full delivery and is beaten all ends up. The ball goes past the outside edge and hits the pads. Nothing on UltraEdge and the wickets are umpire's call on Ball Tracking. Khawaja walks back for a duck and Australia have been rocked early here as Sajid Khan starts with a wicket-maiden. 0/1

lbw b Sajid Khan
24.5 OUT! LBW OUT! Sajid Khan finally gets his man and will go down as the last bowler to dismiss David Warner in Test cricket. This is a length delivery down around middle and comes in with the angle. David Warner looks to defend it on the front foot and gets beaten on the inside edge and the ball wears on his back leg. Another loud appeal is turned down by the umpire Michael Gough. The review is taken and the UltraEdge displays no bat is involved on it. The ball is pitching outside off and the impact is in line. The ball is hitting the stumps as the Ball Tracker confirms. The on-field decision is reversed and that's it for David Warner who walks back to a huge round of applause and gets a pat on the back from the opposition players. Warner hugs the incoming batter Steven Smith and a lucky boy in the crowd gets Warner's gloves and helmet, surreal atmosphere. 119/2
