Indian cricketer Arjun Tendulkar, the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, has opened up on the comparisons with his father. Arjun could be seen in action on Wednesday for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as they take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 clash. The 26-year-old was traded to LSG from Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 30 lakh. During a recent interaction, Arjun was asked whether he feels the weight of expectations being the son of Sachin Tendulkar.
In response, Arjun said that his focus remains on enjoying his game rather than listening to outside noise.
"There are comparisons. I want to know as a human being—but only if you're comfortable—because I always try to put myself in your shoes. When a big name is associated with you, it is obviously a blessing, but there are also challenges. So, how do you deal with it mentally? When you perform well, there will be comparisons, even though you haven't chosen them," Shubhankar Mishra asked Arjun on his YouTube channel.
"I play cricket for my passion, and not to prove anything to anyone. I just focus on the process of working hard and enjoying my game," Arjun relied.
Arjun first entered the IPL when he was signed by the Mumbai Indians in 2021. He played for the franchise until 2025, though opportunities were limited, before joining the Lucknow franchise ahead of this year's campaign.Â
While the southpaw is yet to make his debut for the new franchise, he understandably arrived with the expectation of playing a little more than he did for MI.
During the same interaction, Arjun opened up about his experience at MI and the limited opportunities he received at the franchise.
"You played a few matches for Mumbai Indians (MI) and bowled well. Your swing was good, so did you feel you should have gotten more opportunities?" Arjun was asked.
He replied, "Who doesn't feel that? No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get a chance."
