Cuttack:
Sri Lankan team on Saturday received yet another setback ahead of the third one-dayer against India here on Monday when all-rounder Angelo Mathews was ruled out for the remainder of the five-match series.
Mathews, who had pulled a muscle during his 37 not out in the Nagpur one-dayer, will head home via New Delhi tomorrow, Sri Lankan liason manager Vasu Gangwani said.
Wayamba all-rounder Thissara Perera will join the squad here on Monday morning as Mathews replacement, he added.
Mathews reportedly sustained a strain on his right quadricep muscle in Nagpur last night and the injury is likely to take upto four weeks to heal.
Veteran off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and medium-pacer Dilhara Fernando were earlier sent home after suffering finger injuries.
The fourth and fifth one-dayers will be played in Kolkata (December 24) and New Delhi (December 27).
