Asian Games: Shiva Thapa Enters Quarters of 56kg Boxing Event

Indian boxer Shiva Thapa advanced to the quarterfinals of the bantamweight (56kg) category at the 17th Asian Games here on Friday. (Day 7 Blog)
Thapa was adjudged winner against Nadir of Pakistan by technical knockout due to injury in the round of 16 bout at the Seonhak Gymnasium.
The 20-year-old took just a minute and five seconds, recording a round one TKO-I win over the Pakistani fighter.
Kuldeep Singh (men's light heavy-81kg), Akhil Kumar (men's light-60kg) and Amritpreet Singh(men's heavy-91kg) - all round of 16 matches - are the other Indians in the fray Friday.
