The third day at the US Open 2012 was a mixed one for India.
While Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna crashed out of the first round of the men's doubles, Sania Mirza advanced to the second round of the mixed doubles. ÂÂ
Bhupathi-Bopanna lost in straight sets to Matthew Ebden & Bernard Tomic 6-3, 7-6.
Sania and her British partner Colin Fleming beat the unseeded pairing of Andrea Petkovic and Eric Butorac 6-2, 7-6 to make it to the 2nd round in the mixed doubles.
Meanwhile, Leander Paes and his partner Radek Stepnek beat the German pair of Dustin Brown and Christopher Kas in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the men's doubles first round.
