Hyderabad:
The Hyderabadi hurricane stopped playing in the last week of February when she injured her right knee and underwent a minor surgery in March.
"It was a freak accident. I had to strengthen my knee a bit more. Maybe it is a blessing in disguise, it was a way for me to work out a lot more and I am feeling a lot fitter," said Sania, World No 49.
Doctors have advised Sania not to stretch too much. Twisting her knee is an absolute no-no. Sania now practises for half-an-hour and works out for three hours everyday, hoping to be 100 per cent fit for the German Open.
"Well, I am taking it day after day. As of now I am very excited to be back on courts. Don't want to think too ahead. Lets see, I am aiming for 7th of May," she said.
Fortunately for Sania, despite being out of action for seven weeks, she is still ranked in the 40s. But Sania will have to decide if she wants to skip the French Open and conserve her energy for Wimbledon.
