Toronto:
Spain's Rafael Nadal has won the Toronto Masters, his fifth consecutive tennis title, after beating Germany's Nicolas Kiefer 6-3 and 6-2 in the final on Sunday, EFE news agency reported.
The 22-year-old Spaniard took just 90 minutes to win the final. Kiefer fought back in the fifth game of the second set, but Nadal sailed through.
Nadal, who is best known for his brilliant defence skills and his success on slow red clay, has struggled in the previous seasons on hard courts.
He now appears to have conquered this surface, just as he showed he could win on the grass court by winning the Wimbledon earlier this month.
Earlier this year, he won the French Open and Wimbledon.
The Toronto Masters is one of the nine Tennis Masters Series events, which rank just below the four Grand Slam tournaments.
