Melbourne:
Sania Mirza lost her second round Singles match on Thursday, but will continue her campaign in the Australian Open with a win in the women's doubles event.
After a rain delay, Sania Mirza lost in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to Aiko Nakamura ranked 12 places below her.
Sania had earlier beaten Nakamura in their only encounter at the Japan Open in 2005, but Sania's 26 unforced errors versus Nakamura's nine were partly responsible in her second round exit from the year's first grand slam.
Later, Sania - partnering Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain - defeated Sandra Kloesel of Germany and Aravane Rezai of France 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the women's doubles event of the tournament.
