Seventh-ranked Milos Raonic defeated Santiago Giraldo 6-1, 7-6 (7/2), 7-5 Sunday, giving Canada a Davis Cup victory over Colombia and a berth in the 2015 event.
Raonic's triumph gave the host Canadians an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the World Group qualifying tie with one singles match yet to play. (Also read: Spain Dumped Out of Davis Cup World Group After 18 Years)
Raonic and Vasek Pospisil each won singles matches Friday for the first two Canadian points, but Colombia's Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah won in doubles Saturday to sustain the South Americans' hopes of qualifying.
Canada booked a chance to take the trophy for the fourth year in a row while the Colombians have never qualified for the World Group.
