Over the years, Rafael Nadal has almost always had Paris playing host to him on his birthday. This year, and specifically on Sunday, it will be business as usual for the Spaniard who turns 26.
A day earlier, Nadal was busy leading a Spanish onslaught at the Roland Garros with a lop-sided 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 win over qualifier Eduardo Schwank of Argentina. ( Read report here) The top-seed admitted after the match however that the plans for Sunday was to just continue practicing. "The time has not yet come for me to celebrate. I'd like to focus for the round of 16, and I'll practise, as usual. I will have my treatment, as usual," he was quoted as saying in a report on ESPN Star Sports.
Nadal however said that a quick celebration for him may not be completely out of the question. "I don't know if there's going to be something special, which is always the case here at Roland Garros. I'm always very happy, because something has always been prepared for me, a cake or a very quick celebration. If this is the case, I'll be very happy," he said.
Nadal claimed the French Open title last year and has said that he is eager to stage an encore. With 13th seed Juan Monaco in his way now, this Spaniard looks like treating this day just as another so that he can gift himself the title again.
