Former finalist Marion Bartoli staged a great escape at Wimbledon as the French ninth seed fought back to beat unseeded Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the second round on Friday.
Bartoli saved three match points as she trailed deep into the second set and also needed a medical time-out in the final set.
But she still found a way to turn the tie around and clinch a third round clash against Italian 21st seed Flavia Pennetta.
The 26-year-old reached the Wimbledon final in 2007 before losing to Venus Williams and she arrived at the All England Club this year bolstered by a French Open semi-final appearance -- her best Grand Slam performance since that fairytale run here four years ago.
After dropping the first set, Bartoli looked certain to crash out as she trailed 5-3 in the second.
World number 48 Dominguez Lino served for the match at 5-4 and had three match points, but Bartoli held her nerve to secure the crucial break before taking the set.
Bartoli, who called for an injury timeout at the start in the final set and appeared to be given medication, exchanged breaks with Dominguez Lino in the decider before raising her game to surge into the last 32.
