Australia vs Oman LIVE Updates, T20 World Cup:Â Australia take on Oman in a dead rubber T20 World Cup 2026 Group B clash in Pallekele on Friday. Australia are the most high-profile team to fail it to qualify for the Super 8 stage, following losses to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. This match provides Australia the opportunity to test some different players, with Steve Smith potentially in line to play his first T20I in nearly two years. Retirement rumours have also surrounded a few of Australia's veterans, in particular Glenn Maxwell. Oman are rock bottom of Group B but will be hoping to put up a fight. The match could be affected by rain, with thunderstorms in the forecast. (Live Scorecard)

AUS vs OMA LIVE, T20 World Cup 2026
Uppish but safe!
Tossed up, fuller and on off, Jay leans on and blocks it out.
FOUR! Nicely done! Sliding across off, on a length. Jay Odedra stays leg side of the ball and lets the ball come to him. He knows that there is no one at slip. Just makes use of the angle and the pace on the ball. Steers it fine of short third and gets off the mark with a boundary.
8 down with 100 on the board and Jay Odedra walks out next in the middle to bat for Oman.
OUT! CASTLED! Another one bites the dust. The last of the recognised batters falls for Oman. From around the wicket, on a nagging length in line with the off stump. This does not turn at all and slides on with the arm. Ali hangs his bat out without any real conviction. The ball goes past the inside edge and clips the top of the off pole. 5th bowled dismissal of the innings.
Shorter and on off, Ahmed dabs it behind point and scampers through for a quick single. 100 comes up for Oman.
Overthrow! Full and darted into the left-hander. Ali steps out, takes it on the full and firms the drive to Glenn Maxwell. Maxi spots Wasim out of the crease and he fires in a throw. It is wide of the keeper and Josh Inglis cannot make a clean stop. It rolls behind for a single.
Full and on middle and leg, Wasim Ali gently flicks this through square leg for a run.
Slider, across the batter, Wasim Ali looks to prod in front and keep it out but gets beaten.
LEG BYE! Darted onto the pads, Shakeel Ahmed misses out on the tickle. Gets it brushed off his pads for a leg bye.
Zampa looks to buy a wicket by tossing this over the eyeline of Shakeel, around off. Shakeel Ahmed chips this to the right of Matt Renshaw at long off and takes two.
Quicker one, onto the pads, Wasim Ali tucks this through square leg for one.
FOUR! Smashed away for four. Tossed up, around off, Wasim Ali stays leg side and hammers this with a straight bat, down the ground for a boundary to the left of long off.
Full and on middle and off, Shakeel Ahmed taps this to short cover for a dot. Just 1 run and a wicket off this Glenn Maxwell over.
Flighted, on off, Shakeel Ahmed pushes this to covers again.
Fired into the batter, on middle and off. Shakeel Ahmed defends this to covers.
DRINKS BREAK! Wickets have fallen at regular intervals, and Oman have struggled to build any real momentum in their innings. That said, they have not gone into a shell. The batters have continued to play their shots and look for scoring opportunities despite the setbacks. With Oman now into the tail, Australia will be looking to finish the job swiftly. Shakeel Ahmed is the new batter.
OUT! LBW! 50 T20I wickets for Glenn Maxwell. He bowls this from wide of the crease and around the stumps, slanting it into the batter around middle and leg. Jiten Ramanandi tries to get behind the line and block it out but misses and gets thud onto the front pad. A loud appeal for LBW from the Aussies and the umpire acknowledges this with a raised finger. After some consultation from Ali at the other end, Jiten Ramanandi sends this upstairs. Nothing on the UltraEdge as the ball passes the bat and three reds on the Ball Tracker with the ball thumping into the leg-pole cements the on-field decision of OUT. Pommie Mbangwa informs on air that Glenn Maxwell becomes only the second player in T20Is to achieve the remarkable feat of 50 catches, 50 wickets and 2500 runs, with the other player being Sikandar Raza.
Fuller on off, Jiten Ramanandi defends this to the right of Glenn for a dot.
Floated around the pads, Wasim Ali tucks this through mid-wicket for a run.
