Former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu has reserved blockbuster praise for wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul for his versatility. Sidhu showered praise on Rahul for adapting to different roles, compring him to a "spare tyre" of a vehicle. Since making his debut for India in 2014, Rahul has batted down the order, opened the innings and has also stepped up for the team in the wicketkeeping department. Sidhu added that not many players in the world as versatile and reliable as Rahul.
"KL Rahul deserves a lot of praise. You play him at no 3 or 4, you play him as a wicketkeeper or as an opener, he has adapted to a lot of roles. Similarly, you would've noticed that behind a jeep there is a spare tyre. In case there's an emergency or a puncture, that spare tyre can be put on any of the wheels. Not everyone has that ability," Sidhu said during a discussion on Star Sports.

Meanwhile, Rahul is currently leading LSG in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
During LSG's game against Punjab Kings, Rahul played as an impact substitute with Nicholas Pooran leading the side.
However, in their last game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rahul kept the wickets and also resumed his captaincy duties.
Recapping the match, LSG were put to bat and managed to post a handsome score of 181/5 following Quinton de Kock's rollicking 81 off 56 deliveries.
In reply, RCB struggled to put up meaningful partnerships which led to their downfall and sealed a 28-run defeat for the hosts.
With two wins in three matches, LSG will face the 2022 champions Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.
LSG have reached the playoffs in each of their first two seasons in the IPL.
