After his 48-ball 79 in the Indian Premier League match against Delhi Daredevils at Bangalore's Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, Kohli took his IPL aggregate to 1653 runs at this venue. He started at 1574.
Kohli went past Chris Gayle, who has scored 1578 runs in Bangalore. The Jamaican has been struggling for runs and scored a duck against Delhi Daredevils. RCB lost Sunday's match by seven wickets.
Kohli, who has been good nick since the ICC World Twenty20, not only surpassed Gayle, he has got the better of England all-rounder Samit Patel, who turns out for Nottinghamshire.
Patel held the record before Kohli broke it. He had scored 1595 Twenty20 runs at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
