He made his Test debut against India in Durban in November 1992. Known the world over for his flying catches, Jonty Rhodes is not only teaching fielding skills to IPL champions Mumbai Indians but is also enjoying India's rich spiritual diversity.
Rhodes' fondness for India was eloquently clear when the charismatic South African named his daughter 'India Jeanne Rhodes' after she was born in Mumbai in April 2015.
As the IPL caravan crisscrosses the length and breadth of the country, the Rhodes family is on a spiritual passage through India. Earlier this week, Rhodes and his wife Melanie performed puja for their daughter 'India' at the Pejawar Mutt in Santacruz in Mumbai.
Wearing a traditional dhoti, Rhodes and his wife happily performed all the rituals.
Recently, Rhodes and his sons visited the famous Annamalaiyar Shiva temple in Tamil Nadu.

Why did the Rhodes name their daughter, India?
The 46-year-old Rhodes had told Mid-day: "I have spent a lot of time here. What I love about India is that it's a rich mix of culture, heritage and tradition. It is a very spiritual country, very forward-thinking nation.
"I really like that combination. You have to have a good balance of life. With the name like India, she will have the best of both worlds and that sort of balance."
Mrs Rhodes loves it in India too and especially, yoga. The family is madly in love with India's culture and heritage.
