Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the finds for Indian cricket this season. The young pacer from Gujarat has caught the attention of pundits with his ability to bowl the right line and length during the pressure overs.
Bumrah, who is also a handy lower-order batsman, is a key man in Rohit Sharma Mumbai Indians' armoury and should play a key role in Thursday's clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The 22-year-old Bumrah is cut out for limited overs cricket and in a short span of three months, he has played 16 T20 internationals, taking 19 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 6.65.
Bumrah's unorthodox action and his ability to bowl in-dipping yorkers make him a lethal bowler. In the IPL, Bumrah has filled the gap left by an injured Lasith Malinga and taken eight wickets so far in seven matches with an economy rate of 8.15. Anything below 7 is considered very good.
So what makes Bumrah such a dangerous bowler?
"I used to play a lot of tennis-ball cricket where you bowl a lot of yorkers so maybe that could be a reason I bowl many yorkers. You cannot master anything, but I practice a lot," Bumrah told reporters.
Street cricket, usually played with tennis balls, has given birth to several international bowlers. Bumrah is one them.
