This is all we have for you folks. Join us tomorrow for the double-header. First game is between Chennai and Hyderabad and will start at 1600 IST. The second match kickstarts at 2000 IST and that match is between Bangalore and Kolkata. Till then, goodbye!
Man Of the Match is bagged by James Faulkner and he says that it is a great start for the side. He adds that Hooda played really well in first game and hopes that he continues with his form throughout the tournament. He also says that he and Johnson are good friends and that he got lucky to score against him.
The winning captain Steven Smith says that the players were very good. He heaps praises over Hooda and Faulkner. He adds that it is nice to play in India. He further adds that they need to look at the team combinations and that Watson would certainly fit in the team.
Maximum sixes award goes to Deepak Hooda as he scored the longest six. Star of the Match is shared between Karun and Southee for their terrific work in the deep.
Like with the bat, Faulkner was the key to defending the total as well. He gave away 26 runs and struck thrice to put his team in the driver's seat. Southee too bowled well but was a tad expensive. All in all, it was a terrific bowling display from the visitors. 2 run outs from Samson were influential too.
Vijay and Patel did some rebuilding but Mohali kept losing wickets at crucial junctures of the game. Bailey's decision to keep himself for the end backfired as it was too much to ask from one man. Miller too was sent out in the middle after Patel. Johnson could not up the ante either and in the end 32 runs were required with tail-enders at the crease.
To sum it up, it was left for too late. In the first innings, after a horrendous start, Jaipur reached a modest total of 162 runs. Hooda and Faulkner played blinders in the end to get them those crucial runs. Mohali, in their run chase, started in a pitiful manner. Sehwag perished on a golden duck, the very first delivery of the innings. Saha and Maxwell too fell cheaply and Mohali were left hapless in the chase.
A yorker around off, played back to the bowler. Jaipur have won with a margin of 26 runs.
Anureet Singh this time has a wild swing at this full delivery but misses too.
Low full toss on middle and leg, Singh chips it towards long on for a single.
