Sunil Gavaskar on Friday, praised Cheteshwar Pujara for his unbeaten 114 against Mumbai on the opening day of the second Test in Mumbai. The former cricketer said that the player 'has shown he is a complete Test batsman.'
Speaking to NDTV, Gavaskar said that he was especially impressed with Pujara's temperament. "The way he build up his innings shows that his temperament is terrific ans it is temperament which separates men from boys. He's a terrific player. He has shown that he is a complete Test batsman. After the Ahmedabad Test, he has shown his mettle and he'll be able to do it in abroad as well," he said.
Pujara replaced Gautam Gambhir at the crease and despite Monty Panesar getting the ball to turn, managed to anchor himself. He finished the day unbeaten and though he lost five of his partners at the other end, will resume Day 2 with R Ashwin.
Gavaskar though said that the assistance to spinners on the Mumbai track should not be too much of a concern. "If in two Test matches it happens, you start to think what's going wrong. It's not as if they have failed. Look Sehwag is coming into this match with a hundred. It's difficult wicket to bat, there was a lot of spin which is expected in Mumbai," he said.
