# Graeme Swann has become the 14th English bowler to complete 200 wickets in Tests - the 16th spinner to accomplish the feat - 202 at an average of 29.41 in 48 Tests.

# Swann became the second England spinner after Derek Underwood to achieve the distinction - 297 at an average of 25.83 in 86 Tests.

# Cheteshwar Pujara (135 off 350 balls) took his tally to 705 runs at an average of 78.33, including three centuries and a fifty.

# Pujara became the fourth Indian player to make 700 runs in his first seven Tests.  Sunil Gavaskar is the leading run-getter, with 918 runs for India, followed by Vinod Kambli (793) and Sadagoppan Ramesh (783).

# Pujara has managed 382 runs in three innings (once not out), including two hundreds, at an average of 382.00 in the current rubber.

# Kevin Pietersen (62 not out off 85 balls) has posted his fifth fifty against India - his 28th in Tests.

# The aforesaid innings is his third fifty in Tests in India - his highest is 144 of 201 balls in the 2008-09 Mohali Test.

# In the course of his unbeaten innings, he has completed 3,000 runs in overseas Tests - 3008 at an average of 43.59 in 42 Tests.

# Alastair Cook (991 runs at an average of 47.19 in 13 Tests) requires nine runs to become the second batsman to aggregate 1,000 runs in Tests this year. Michael Clarke, with 1280 runs at an average of 128.00 in eight Tests, is the leading run-getter in 2012.

# Cook, with 304 runs at an average of 152.00, is the top run-scorer for England in the current series.

# Jonathan Trott's second duck against India is his third in Tests.

# Monty Panesar (5/129) has recorded his first instance of five wickets in an innings against India - his eleventh in Tests.

# Three times, Panesar has claimed five wickets or more in an innings in the sub-continent in 12 Tests - twice against Pakistan and once against India.
