Team India look like they don't want to play here: Experts

Cricket experts Sunil Gavaskar and Michael Holding slammed the Indian team for their on-field attitude in the ongoing Edgbaston Test on Thursday. Team India looked seemingly disinterested as England dominated them on the 2nd day of play amassing a huge first innings lead of 232 runs with 7 wickets in hand.

Holding said that Test cricket is no longer the priority of the Indian cricket team. "I have said this before and I would say it again, that it appears that Indian players look disinterested in Test cricket, it seems that Test cricket is just something that they have to do and not something that they have to concentrate on." The Indian team, which was sent to England as the World No. 1 side has failed miserably in the swinging English conditions, failing to score 300 runs in the five innings that they have played. England look set to dethrone India at the top of the ICC rankings, which have now become a mere part of India's misery.

Sunil Gavaskar too seemed to have a strong disapproval of the manner in which the Indian team have been acting on the field. "I think they are going through the motions, they are trying for the first one and a half hour and then they just seem to give it up.  There are one or two (players) in this team who have given impression that they just don't care, that they are above everything else, its seems as if that Indian teams owe them something now that they have won the World Cup", said Gavaskar. Gavaskar was also strongly critical of the Indian fielding " It's about time that some hard steps were taken. What happens is that one or two not interested becomes infectious. This team needs energy, their energy is lacking. We have specialised coaches and this is what happens...10 no balls?...and what about the specialised coaching of fielding. what's happening?", exclaimed Gavaskar.

Holding also drew comparisons of the ongoing series with the West Indies side that was forced to tour England two years ago. "This Indian team reminds of the West Indies tour 2 years ago; when they were force to come for a tour of England which they did'nt want to. That's what this Indian team looks like, they don't want to be here, this is not a proper Indian team, this is not the number one team in the world".

"England are just expected to win, it's just a matter of when. I think India are just waiting to lose the match", added Holding

India are already 2-0 down in the series and the chances of a comeback were buried by England who scored 372 runs on Day 2 losing just 3 wickets. Alastair Cook slammed 182 runs including 26 boundaries to be England's anchor man.
