# India's defeat by an innings and 242 runs is their second biggest against England in Tests, next only to the loss by an innings and 285 runs at Lord's in 1974.
# India's aforesaid loss is their third biggest in Tests - the biggest being by an innings and 336 runs against West Indies at Kolkata in 1958-59.
# India's loss at Edgbaston is the 15th worst innings defeat in Test annals.
# India have lost three successive Tests under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy for the first time.
# Dhoni, as captain, has lost his first Test series.
# Dhoni, under his captaincy, has lost three Tests out of six by an innings margin - two against South Africa and one against England.
