ÂÂ
04:13 (IST): Johnson Charles is man-of-the-match for his 100-ball marathon 97. From 26/3 he kept the Windies run chase on track, along with Darren Bravo and was unfortunate to miss out on a third ODI hundred. (Match in Pics)
ÂÂ
03:57 (IST): Yes they can! A thrilling encounter at Sabina Park ends with the last-wicket pair Kemar Roach and Tino Best taking the hosts to a 1-wicket win against India, chasing down 230 in 47.4 overs.
ÂÂ
03:48 (IST): Roach and Best fighting it out for the home team as R Jadeja finishes his quota - 10-1-50-0. There are many plays and misses but the last pair are surviving some how. Just 6 need from 4 overs. Can they hold their nerve and take the team through?
ÂÂ
03:36 (IST): Ninth Wicket - Did we speak to soon? Windies are making tougher for themselves as Sunil Narine falls to Raina, giving Shikhar Dhawan simple catch at mid-on. Tino Best out there, giving company to Roach.
ÂÂ
03:34 (IST): West Indies require 10 more to win from remaining seven overs and Roach and Narine have held the nerve so far. Can India strike again?
ÂÂ
03:25 (IST): Eighth Wicket - Johnson Charles is out and Windies get a body blow. Just three short of what would have been his third ODI hundred, Charles went for glory as he hit an Umesh Yadav delivery straight down Ishant Sharma's throat at mid-off. He walked off the field in disgust as Roach and Sunil Narine have the task of taking Windies through to a win.
ÂÂ
03:18 (IST): Johnson Charles stands between an Indian win as R Ashwin finishes his quota with figures of 10-0-44-2. Kemar Roach is playing an excellent support role for him, keeping away the good balls.
ÂÂ
03:08 (IST): Seventh Wicket - Darren Sammy is gone after hitting Ishant Sharma for a four and a six in the 37th over. His 29 came off 25 balls and was studded with 2 fours and three sixes. Johnson Charles remains key now as tailender Kemar Roach gives him company.
ÂÂ
02:56 (IST): West Indies again on course now with Darren Sammy finding the crowd once again, this time his six goes to the Sabina Park car parking area. Just 48 needed off 15 overs now.
ÂÂ
02:50 (IST): New man Darren Sammy easing the job for Johnson Charles with some clean blows to the fence. His 2 boundaries in his brief stay so far include a six over wide long on off Ishant and a off-drive past covers for four off Ravindra Jadeja. Windies need a further 54 runs from 16 overs with four wickets in hand.
ÂÂ
02:40 (IST): Sixth Wicket - R Ashwin at his very best, clean bowls Denesh Ramdin (4). Ashwin had created the pressure in the mind of the batsman by employing three close-in catching fielders and Ashwin's off cutter found the gap between bat and pad to hit the stumps.
ÂÂ
02:33 (IST): Fifth Wicket - Ishant Sharma strikes as West Indies skipper for today Kieron Pollard falls for just 4. A lucky break for India. Pollard edged a ball outside off stump and Dinesh Karthik flew to his right to take a two-handed take behind the stumps. Denesh Ramdin comes to the crease. With Johnson Charles still there and Darren Sammy still to come, West Indies still favourites to win this.
ÂÂ
02:29 (IST): No mercy shown by Johnson Charles, another six from his blade - his fourth of the innings, this time its off R Ashwin. Ashwin bowls a carrom ball and Charles hammers it over wide long off for a maximum.
ÂÂ
02:21 (IST): Fourth Wicket - Finally India break the partnership, thanks to R Ashwin. Darren Bravo, tried to clear mid-wicket, but found Dhawan at the position. Bravo shared 116-run stand in 23.4 overs with Johnson Charles. Can India apply more pressure to tilt the balance?
ÂÂ
02:17 (IST): A fifty for Darren Bravo - his 10th in ODI cricket. Plus, Bravo along with Charles have gone past 100-run stand. Just 89 more to win from 23 overs now.
ÂÂ
02:10 (IST): Another massive strike by Charles, he launches Jadeja over long on for his second six of his innings. India in desperate need of a wicket now.
ÂÂ
02:03 (IST): Johnson Charles reaches his second fifty in ODIs. He also has two ODI hundreds to his name. In his fifty he has hit 6 fours and a six so far.
ÂÂ
01:58 (IST): The 100 is up for the hosts with the two batsmen in the middle looking quite comfortable and playing it sensibly. After 22 overs, Windies are 101/3, needing a further 129 runs from 168 balls.
ÂÂ
01:37 (IST): Johnson Charles and Darren Bravo both have recorded one six each. The latest maximum came off the bat of Charles who danced down the track and lofted Ravindra Jadeja over long on for a massive hit in the 17th over. Partnership between the two have passed 60.
ÂÂ
01:21 (IST): Last three overs (11-13) have been quite productive for the hosts as 21 runs came off them. Charles and Darren Bravo are looking settled at the crease, which could spell danger signs for India. So far Windies have hit 10 fours and a six, way more than what India had gathered after 13 overs. Required run rate is not an issue for West Indies as it is under 4.50 per over.
ÂÂ
01:00 (IST): 10 overs up in the chase and the Windies are 44 for 3. The good thing for them is an enterprising Johnson Charles is at the crease. Charles has hit 6 fours so far in his 25-ball 24. Darren Bravo till now has looked at ease. Virat Kohli is taking the captaincy decisions on the field. Murali Vijay is on the field for MS Dhoni.
ÂÂ
00:38 (IST): Third Wicket - Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets his man as Marlon Samuels plays onto stumps. Cramped for room on a short of good length ball, Samuels gets an inside edge that tickles the off stump.
ÂÂ
00:33 (IST): Second Wicket: Umesh Yadav strikes again and Devon Smith has to depart. Umesh bowls a fuller length ball around the leg stump and the left-hander missed the ball which looked destined to hit the leg stump.
ÂÂ
00:32 (IST): Skipper Dhoni is off the field and Dinesh Karthik has donned the keeping gloves for the time-being. Johnson Charles, meanwhile, means business as he hits Bhuvneshwar Kumar for three fours straight down the ground in the third over off the innings.
ÂÂ
00:25 (IST): First Wicket: Chris Gayle goes and India celebrate! Umesh Yadav cramped Gayle for room with a short of length ball and Gayle forces a shot of the backfoot, only to be caught sharply by Suresh Raina at short cover-point.
ÂÂ
00:20 (IST): Chris Gayle gets into the act straightaway! After hitting Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a four down the ground toward mid-off in the first over, he pulls Umesh Yadav's first delivery in the second over over square leg for four.
ÂÂ
23:50 (IST): Two wickets each for Darren Sammy, Tino Best and Kemar Roach. No doubt that India were stifled by Marlon Samuels who ended with excellent figures of 9-1-20-1. India scored 69 runs in the final 10 overs, including the 17 runs that came in the last over. 230 for the Windies to chase? Should be an interesting chase.
ÂÂ
23:41 (IST): So India end at 229 for 7 as a four and six by Bhuvneshwar Kumar over mid-off off the bowling of Sunil Narine boosts the innings.
ÂÂ
23:35 (IST): Seventh Wicket - Ravindra Jadeja plays onto stumps and Best gets his second wicket. Jadeja hit 17 off 20 balls.
ÂÂ
23:22 (IST): Sixth Wicket - MS Dhoni's struggle is over. He goes for 27 off 35 balls and Tino Best finally finds some success. Best bowls his best ball of the day to the Indian skipper - a yorker - and Dhoni misses his attempted heave.
ÂÂ
23:08 (IST): Fifth Wicket - Suresh Raina goes after a wide ball and gets a faint edge to keeper Denesh Ramdin off Kemar Roach. Dhoni and Raina shared a 58-run stand. Raina (44) recorded his best score in ODIs in the West Indies. He has three international scores of 50-plus in the Caribbean - an 82 in Tests vs WI, a 100 and a 50 in T20Is.
ÂÂ
23:06 (IST): Dhoni seems to have injured his right leg, he is limping, gets treatment from team physio and is still batting. Some hold up in play as both Raina, Dhoni have a drink.
ÂÂ
22:50 (IST): So 27 runs scored in the batting powerplay between overs 36-40. With the score at 160 for 4 and 10 overs to go, India can target 240, which will be a fighting total on a sluggish surface.
22:10 (IST): Fourth Wicket - Rohit Sharma throws it away. Rohit, not content with a four earlier in the over, miscues an attempted shot over mid on and ends up being caught at long off fence. Sammy gets his second wicket. In comes skipper MS Dhoni.
ÂÂ
22:05 (IST) - Rohit Sharma reaches his 16th half-century in ODI cricket. Can he go on and make it into a big one?
ÂÂ
21:47 (IST): Third Wicket - Dinesh Karthik falls to a soft dismissal. Marlon Samuels takes a return catch after Karthik's defensive prod goes in the air. Suresh Raina is the next man.
ÂÂ
21:13 (IST): Rohit Sharma breaks the shackles with a four! Rohit takes on Tino Best again and hammers him over extra cover for a much-needed boundary. It has been slow going by India with 18 runs coming in overs 13-18.
ÂÂ
20:41 (IST): Second Wicket - Virat Kohli has a short stay at crease as a diving one-handed catch by Chris Gayle sends hims back to the hut. Darren Sammy struck in his second over as Kohli slashed outside off, only to be pouched by Gayle standing at a wide first slip. Dinesh Karthik is the new-man in.
ÂÂ
20:26 (IST): New-man Virat Kohli hits the second six of the innings, another upper cut! Tino Best's poor start with the ball continues as Kohli thrashes a short and wide ball over square third man boundary.
ÂÂ
20:23 (IST): First Wicket: Shikhar Dhawan falls early, a rarity! Dhawan comes down the track to upset Kemar Roach and plays a straight airy fairy drive but Roach stick his hand out only to complete the catch on the rebound in his follow through.
ÂÂ
20:18: (IST): So the first six of the day has been hit by Rohit Sharma. Tino Best bowls a short ball outside off stump and Rohit upper cuts it over third-man fence for a maximum.
ÂÂ
20:11 (IST): Well, well what happened there? Darren Bravo kicks the ball in celebration after catching Rohit Sharma off a free-hit delivery by Tino Best. Stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard is livid with little Bravo, who was stationed at the third-man boundary. Indian openers take two extra runs.
ÂÂ
19:35 (IST): West Indies win the toss and opt to field. Big news is that Kieron Pollard is leading the home team as Dwayne Bravo is out with a groin injury he suffered during the Sri Lanka game on Friday.
ÂÂ
19:15 (IST): India wary of Chris Gayle, watch video.
ÂÂ
19:00 (IST): India are likely to play the same team that beat West Indies in the Champions Trophy in England, while the home side has the experience and the talent to give the visitors a run for their money. Read the match preview.
