Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews has been suspended for two ODIs while all other players have been fined 40-per-cent of their match fees for slow over-rate in their match against India in the final of the tri-series in Trinidad on Thursday, according to an ICC Media release.

David Boon, the match referee imposed the suspension after Sri Lanka were found to be three overs short of their target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration.

Mathews pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction.

As such, Mathews has been suspended for the first two ODI against South Africa to be played on 20 and 23 July at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Nigel Llong and Peter Nero, third umpire Joel Wilson and fourth umpire Nigel Duguid.
