Jeev Milkha Singh, playing alongside Japanese superstar Ryo Ishikawa, shot a one-under 71 and moved to tied 16th after the third round of the Japan Golf Tour's Coca Cola Tokai Classic here onn Saturday.
Jeev is now two-over 218 for three rounds and seven shots behind the sole leader, Hyun-Woo Ryu of Korea (67), who is five-under 211. Kim Kyung-Tae (70) and Masahiro Kawahara (72) were tied for second at four-under 212.
Jeev opened with a pair of birdies on the first two holes. But that was negated by bogeys on sixth and ninth. He got back to two-under with birdies on 11th and 15th, but a bogey on the 18th saw him end at one-under. It was still an improvement from overnight 30th place.
This is Jeev's third successive start in Japan and he finished 31st at ANA Open and then tied for 58th at Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open last week.
