Germany beat Japan 2-0

World champions Germany reached the last eight of the Women's World Cup on Monday, with a 2-0 win over Japan in Hangzhou, China.

A first half goal from skipper Birgit Prinz and a late Renate Lingor penalty was enough to see Germany finish top of Group A.
