Florence:

The second round of the UEFA Cup had Fiorentina playing Austrian club Tirol Innsbruck. The first half saw neither team being able to score, missing some great opportunities. Fiorentina finally broke through four minutes after the break when substitute Domenico Morfeo received the ball from Moreno Torricelli, turned and fired a low shot into the left hand corner of the net. Finally, with just five minutes left, Fiorentina struck their second - as Nuno Gomez sealed the win by chipping in over Ziegler after tussling with a Tirol defender. The 2-0 win for the Italians should stand them in good stead as they travel to Innsbruck for the return leg in two weeks. Meanwhile, two-time Champions League runners-up Valencia got a controversial penalty to earn a 1-1 daw with Legia Warsaw in Poland.
