Chelsea held out for a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Saturday to seal second place in the English Premier League. Jesper Gronkjaer gave the visitors the lead in the 19th minute and their 'keeper Carlo Cudicini brilliantly saved a penalty from Ruud van Nistelrooy just before half-time. But a 73rd minute red card for Chelsea's German defender Robert Huth was followed four minutes later by a goalkeeping blunder from Cudicini which handed van Nistelrooy an easy equalizer. Chelsea held on for the draw, which ensures they will finish second behind champions Arsenal, giving them an automatic berth for next season's UEFA Champions League. (AP)
